About us

David has 40 years of experience in the public transport industry spending 21 years with transport operators and local authority transport units before moving into transport consultancy eighteen years ago.

David founded his own specialist public transport consultancy, Craighorn Consultancy, in 2010 specialising in the support of local authorities transport functions, such as the procurement of school transport and local bus services, bus network reviews, policy, legislative advice and interim management roles.

Before his move into transport consultancy David  was team leader in Stirling & Clackmannanshire’s Transport Co-ordination Centre. 

He was a previous Chair of the Association of Transport Co-ordinating Officers (ATCO-Scotland) and sat on a number of government working groups including those regarding the  introduction of the National Concessionary Travel scheme. 

As a consultant David has managed a variety of roles and projects from the development of a public transport plan for Europe’s largest teaching hospital the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, to advising the Ministry of Transportation in the Kingdom of Bahrain in the improvement to their public transport, to co-author of the Scottish guidelines for Bus Punctuality Improvements Partnerships and statutory Quality Partnerships for the Scottish Governments Bus Action Plan. 

More recently David has undertaken interim management roles in local authorities throughout the UK including  Highland, Conwy Borough, Surrey, Kent and Leicestershire County Councils along with delivering efficiency savings on mainstream school and special needs, adult and local bus transport services in Norfolk, London Borough of Redbridge and Perth & Kinross.

David has worked on a DfT funded DRT pilot scheme and also on the Bus Service Improvement Partnerships for East Riding of Yorkshire and Leicestershire and the Chair of the  Leicestershire Enhanced Bus Partnership. 

He is currently supporting Perth & Kinross Council in a major transport transformation project.
